Privacy Policy
Version 2026-08-18 · Last updated 18 August 2026
This policy explains what Kismo collects about you, why we collect it, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to do with it. It applies to both clients and astrologers.
The data controller is ParakeetAI d.o.o., Slovenska cesta 55b, Ljubljana, Slovenia. For anything in this policy, write to support@kismo.app.
1. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account: your email address and your name. There is no password to store: every sign-in is a one-time link emailed to that address.
- Birth details, if you are a client: your date of birth, your time of birth (or the fact that you do not know it), and your place of birth, which we resolve to coordinates and a time zone. Also your gender, the languages you want to be read in, and the topics you are interested in.
- Profile, if you are an astrologer: your name, photo, biography, date of birth, city, languages, practices, experience, availability, contact number, any social links you give us, and the case-study video you submit for review.
- Chat content: the messages you send and receive.
- Anything else you send us, such as a support email or a report about another user.
Information we collect automatically
- Usage and device data: pages viewed, actions taken, approximate location derived from your IP address at city level, browser and device type.
- Consent records: when you accept these documents, we store which document, which version, the time, and the IP address and browser the acceptance came from. We keep this because it is the evidence that you were shown the terms you are bound by.
- Payment records: the amount, currency, time and status of a top-up. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach us.
2. Sensitive information
Two things here deserve to be called out plainly.
Your birth details are not ordinary profile data. A birth date, time and place uniquely identify a person far more readily than a name does. We collect them because they are the input to the chart an astrologer reads, we share them only with an astrologer you have chosen to talk to, and we do not sell them or use them for advertising.
What you say in a reading may be intimate. People bring health, relationships, money and grief to an astrologer. We do not ask you for that information, but we host what you write. Depending on where you live, some of it may count as a special category of personal data — in which case our basis for processing it is your explicit consent, given by choosing to write it in a chat, and you can withdraw that consent by deleting your account.
3. Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To provide the service — creating your account, matching you with astrologers, delivering messages, preparing charts, processing top-ups. Basis: performance of our contract with you.
- To keep the platform safe — investigating reports, preventing fraud and abuse, enforcing our terms. Basis: our legitimate interest in a safe platform, and our legal obligations.
- To review astrologers — assessing applications and case-study submissions. Basis: performance of our contract with the astrologer, and our legitimate interest in the quality of readings.
- To improve Kismo — product analytics on how features are used, in aggregate. Basis: legitimate interest.
- To contact you — sign-in links, service notices, and replies to your questions. Basis: contract. Marketing email, if we ever send it, goes only to people who opted in, and every message has an unsubscribe link.
- To meet legal obligations — accounting, tax, and responding to lawful requests. Basis: legal obligation.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your chats to train machine learning models.
4. Who sees your data
The astrologer you talk to sees your name, your birth details, your chosen languages and topics, and what you write to them. They are bound by the Astrologer Agreement to keep it confidential and to use it only to give you a reading.
Other clients see nothing about you. An astrologer’s public profile — name, photo, biography, languages, practices — is visible to clients browsing for a reading.
Our staff access personal data only where they need to: supporting you, reviewing an astrologer application, or investigating a report.
5. Service providers
We use these companies to run Kismo. Each processes data on our instructions only.
- Neon — the database where your account and chats are stored.
- Vercel — hosting, and the request logs that come with it.
- Stripe — wallet top-ups. Stripe is the controller of your payment details and has its own privacy policy.
- Pusher — real-time delivery of chat messages.
- UploadThing — storage for profile photos and case-study videos.
- Postmark — sending sign-in links and service email.
- Mixpanel — product analytics.
- Open-Meteo geocoding — turning a place name into coordinates and a time zone when you search for your birth place. We send the text you type; we do not send your identity.
- Meta — marketing pixels, where enabled. There are two, kept separate: one on the astrologer pages, and one for clients that runs on our public landing pages and inside the client app. Each sends Meta the pages you open, your IP address and your browser, and the client one also reports a completed wallet top-up and the amount charged — not what you spent it on, and never your chat messages or your birth details. Neither runs in the admin area.
We may also disclose data where the law requires it, to establish or defend a legal claim, or to a buyer if our business is sold — in which case this policy continues to apply until you are told otherwise.
6. Where your data goes
Kismo is operated from Slovenia and several of the providers above are based in the United States and the European Union, so your data is transferred internationally. Where a transfer leaves a country whose law restricts it, we rely on the appropriate safeguards for that country — for transfers out of the UK or EEA, the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
7. How long we keep it
- Account and profile: while your account exists, and for 30 days after you delete it.
- Chats: while your account exists, so that you can read your own history.
- Consent records: for six years after the account closes. They exist to show what you agreed to, which is exactly the thing that matters after a relationship ends.
- Payment and tax records: as long as tax law requires.
- Safety records relating to a report or a removal: up to three years, so that somebody removed for harming a user cannot simply return.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to: give you a copy of your data; correct it; delete it; restrict or object to how we use it; give you a portable copy; or withdraw a consent you gave. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Write to support@kismo.app and we will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify who you are first — which, for an account identified by an email address, usually means replying from it.
You can edit your own birth details at any time under Settings, and clients can clear them entirely by asking us to delete the account.
9. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies that are necessary for the service — keeping you signed in, and security. We also use Mixpanel for product analytics, and Meta pixels where they are enabled. Mixpanel may record how the app is used (session replay) so we can fix problems and understand where people get stuck; those recordings can include what you see and type in the app, including your chat messages and birth details. Payment details are entered on our payment providers’ own secure pages and never appear in recordings. The Meta pixels set advertising cookies, on our public pages and — for clients — inside the app, so that the ads we buy can be measured against what people actually do here.
10. Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit, we hold no passwords at all — sign-in is a single-use emailed link, so there is no stored credential to steal — and access to production data is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you and the law requires us to tell you, we will.
11. Children
Kismo is for adults. You must be 18 or over to hold an account. If we learn that we hold data about a child, we delete it. If you believe a child has an account, tell us at support@kismo.app.
12. Changes
We will update this policy as Kismo changes. Every version is dated, and when a change is material we will tell you and ask you to accept the new version before you carry on.
